Animate wont load FLA

I was working on an animation in Adobe Animate CC 2023 but the program started to get really laggy, taking a long time to respond to anything I did. So I closed out of Animte and saved the file. When I tried to re-open the FLA file, the program crashed without any error message. Does anyone know how to fix this, or what I can do to prevent it in the future?

you can try to salvage your fla by renaming it to a rar  file > repairing with winrar > renaming the repaired rar to a fla and try opening the repaired fla.  that fails about 90% of the time.

 

if that fails, you can search for a auto-recovery file (if you have that enabled) and you can try unraring that repaired rar to see if you can salvage any assets.

 

to prevent in the future:

 

save your fla frequently with an increasing version number appended.  eg, for project1.fla, save as project1_v000.fla then after a few changes save as project1_v001.fla, then project1_v002.fla.

 

periodically close and then reopend the latest version.  if that opens without problem, you can delete the early versions and continue with the version saves.
