Animated graphic symbol won't play.

Hello. I have an animated graphic symbol that plays when I scrub the play head or hit RETURN to play. It does not play however in the swf or mpg export. It is composed of embedded Animated symbols 3 deep ( that is -a still symbol that is put in another layer and animated over time. THAT symbol is then put in another symbol, distributed over several separate layers and animated some more - and then brought into the main timeline). Is this too much?
