animating on top of video and exporting a hybrid of animation and video

Hi please can someone help with the following:

I am trying to create a rotoscope like animation but retain the video footage; I want to animate the background of the footage but retain the foreground human character as original video movement. What format do i import the video as, so i can export with the animation later, please.

Video in Animate is for reference purposes only and can’t be exported with your animation. Export your animation separately (with transparency), then combine it with the original video in an editor like Premiere.
