Assigning a draggable mask

In canvas is it possible to drag a mask around the stage? I'm wanting to drag a magnifying glass to reveal parts of the background image.

Dragging the object is no problem, its when I add a "AlphaMaskFilter" I can no longer drag the object.

Any ideas or code would be of great help!
