Hello Denver,

there are TWO typs of audio in Animate. If you click on the first keyframe of the audio in the timeline you should be able to view in the Properties Panel and change it if need be.

Event Audio, gets cued up when the playhead lands on that frame, and it will play the entire audio, even if you STOP on the first frame.
Streaming Audio - is broken up so each frame has one piece of the audio, and it is exaclty synced to the timeline.

This makes it easier to do lip synching, or to set off an explosiion sound on an exact keyframe, and years ago when using an SWF it would force the playhead to play the sounds at a normal pace and would cut frames if need be. This way it would try to play at the same pace on faster or slower machines (although on a slower machine it would drop frames to keep the pace of the audio.

So you can imagine if synching "he- L-Lo" you can sync each mouth movement to sync with the sound in each frame.

Hope this helps!
Cheers,

mark

that's expected (and flash/animate's always worked that way) with streaming audio.
