audio wont play unless played from first frame

hi!! so im trying to make an animation, but the audio i have in the project wont play unless i play the project from the very start. if i play it from the first frame, the audio will play throughout the whole project just fine, but if i play from the second fame onwards, the audio doesnt play at all. this is an issue because the animation im making relies heavily on being synced to the audio. thanks!!
