are there any legitimate examples and free downloads for different backgrounds and characters to use on adobe animate?

There are a bunch of samples that you can open from the start screen and play with.

This screen opens when you choose File > New... from the menu

Double-click any of the colourful icons at the bottom.

There are also the examples which I have made for testing Smart Magnet Rigs. They are pro grade character builds. All available for free download - strictly for testing, experimentation and personal non-commercial projects.
