Question

Black screen of death

Big file (55MB) suddenly everything goes black like this. I can minimize the window and bring it back up, so its not a typical crash? Could happen a minute into working or 2 hours. It's happened at least a dozen times to me last week while working in files over 16MB. My computer is brand new and I had this same problem on my old machine with a different graphics driver.
I've seen this question pop up a lot without any effective answers, so here's my 2 cents: the only fix I've found is to break up the file into smaller files and keep it under 10MB. There is no way to recover and once it goes black, ctrl alt del is the only way out.

It attempts to ask if I want to save while force-quitting. The save window can be moved around. Pressing enter lets it save. Nothing can be used anymore in the program.

Hi mate,

Yeah, I've seen this a few times and have ruled out Animate as a program to do real work in. It's unreliable.

Never happens in Flash CS6 even when files are 400-500 MB or even larger.

Maybe you should try to install the latest 20.0.1 alongside what you have to see if it behaves any better.
