Usually, when importing a video to be animated on, I go to File / Import / Import Video, i import my flv file, choose Embed FLV in SWF, choose embedded video and everything checked, but this thing when i folow that process and finish, i t imports te video, except it has a completely black screen. Why is this happening?

Kglad, your answers aren't that helpful. I've got the same issue, and deleting my App Data/command and preferences are not on the table since it's a lot of commands and preferences that (despite saving work and hotkey preferences and placing everything back into a place and importing preferences/hotkeys after a fresh install does not actually work.) are too important and time consuming to fix

what preferences do I have to specifically change in order to import and have an FLV video in my timeline and not get a black screen?

you start with an actionscript 3 project, correct?

if so, and you can't successfully import any flv into your timeline, reset your prefences:

    or remove

    Win:
    C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Adobe\Animate CC \ and
    C\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Animate\\

    Mac:
    /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe// and
    /Users//Library/Preferences/Adobe/Animate//
