Bone tool trouble!

This should be such a simple thing, but I can't for the life of me figure it out:

After using the bone tool, I zoom in to find that my rig wasn't in EXACTLY the right place. How do I nudge it over without taking my work with it? I only want to move the rig while the actual object parts remain in exactly the same place.

Sure! Select the Free Transform (Q) tool and move the center point (little white dot) for each symbol. That circle dictates where the bones are connected for each symbol instance.

Wow, I never would have guessed that. Also, even if that information exists somewhere, I would've never figured out the key words to find it.

You're a life saver. I couldn't have done it without you.

My pleasure. While on the subject of hard to find documented features, select a bone in your armature and play with the "Strength" feature. By default all bones are set to 100% meaning they move as freely as possible. A lower percentage however adds resistance to them. Useful if you want some bones to feel "heavier" than others.
