Brush lag in Animate on Mac

My brush is slow and laggy when using the "classic brush" tool in Animate. I've tried previous versions of Animate and it's the same across iterations. I'm on a 2016 Macbook Pro with plenty of RAM. I've updated my Wacom drivers to the latest as well as the OS. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? I'm not finding many answers. Thanks in advance!
