Buttons within Button?

Hi,

i'm looking for a way to achieve the following:

i have movieClip called mcHolder.

When the onMouseOver event of mcHolder is triggered when the user sets the mouse over mcHolder.hitArea the mcHolder movie plays and displays three subbuttons. onMouseOut of mcHolder the mcHolder timeline is played backwards

The problem is that the three subbuttons don't work because of the mcHolder hitArea (i think?)

Anyone any idea how to achieve this kind of functionality?

thanks in advance

either use a loop and hitTest to check for a mouseOver of the parent movieclip or define your mouseover/mouseout handlers for the youngest generation that needs handlers assigned.

you'll need some kind of loop. you could use an onEnterFrame loop but an onMouseMove handler would be sufficient.

hi kdlad,

thanks for the reponse I achieved to track the onMouseDown by adding an event listener to the Mouse and testing with hitTest, but could you please give me some more help with the mouseOver event? Do I need to make an on enterFrame loop?
