Hello Adobe community, I was wondering if buying a second hand (legitimate and boxed) copy of Flash CS3 would make me using that program legal. I am aware that activation no longer works so the program installed would have to be patched in some way, but I believe there is no problem if I do own a boxed copy of the program. Answers such as "Just get Adobe Animate!" or "Flash is dead!" will be ignored.

Correct answer kglad

you can use for the 30 day trial period.  then you can reformat your computer or use another computer to get another 30 day trial etc..

the only version's that don't need activation haven't been legally sold for many years.

you cannot use cs3 beyond the one month trial period because the adobe activation servers have long been shutdown. boxed or not makes no difference.

and whatever "patching" you're considering is illegal.

So even if I have the purchased copy, I still cannot use Flash CS3 due to activation? So would having a copy that doesn't require activation be illegal even if I own a physical copy?

Oh, wow. That bad? Unexpected. I must have stepped on some toes then.

Well, please offer them my apologies.

I won't be linking to other software anymore; although it is strange, since I have linked to alternatives before in other posts where I thought it would or could be helpful to the OP.

Granted, not that many in a row of posts. 😉

i posted.  but if the links are removed it's very unlikely anyone would ban you.
