I never used Animate before... and I have a few questions...

 

Can I use adobe Illustrator files in Animate? 

 

I want to create an interactive animation for a website....  say visitor clicks on trigger button and what would generate an animation from the drawing.... can I do that on Animate and place it in a website in which the user can interact?

 

Also... any more information about Animate would be awesome..

Yes - you can certainly import Illustrator files into Animate. 

Yes - you can publish (or export) animated content for the web - yep, yep.
