Can't align object or grouped object

Hello... I would like to center align a grouped object. However if I click on "Align horizontal center" on the Align Tool nothing happens... I also tried to do this when the object was not grouped..

I am working on Mac with the latest version of CC.

You have to check "Align to stage" on the Align panel to align objects to stage.

If you don't check this option, you'll need at least two objects to make the alignment relative to them.

    if you're trying to align it with the stage, tick the "Align to stage" option.

    otherwise, what are you trying to align it with?  hint: if you want to align elements of a group (with each other), ungroup>align>regroup (if desired).
