Can't get animation to play outside of timeline

Can't get animation to test but it works when I play it in the timeline? I am pretty new to this. I have also converted the object I am moving into a symbol but do I need to do that to all the objects?

It looks from the image as though you are within a Graphic symbol. Check the main timeline and ensure that you have enough frames to play back the symbol contents there. Graphic symbol timelines are boud frame-by-frame to their containing timeline.
