Can't get my components to load in Extension Manager

I'm unable to get any downloaded components to install with Extension Manager. I go through the process of Install, click on .mxp file, but nothing shows up in Extension Manager or Flash component window. I've tried several components and get the same result. Component authors can't help. Any guidance?

I'm using the latest version of Ext. Mgr.
Components are compatible with my Flash version.
When I do the install procedure, nothing happens. I don't get any message and nothing appears in the Ext.Mgr list or on Flash component window. If I take swc files directly and add to Component Folder, that works, but I need to be able to go the mxp route.

Make sure your Extension Manager is compatible with your Flash version. You can download the latest version of Extension Manager from here

Make sure the component is compatible with your Flash version.
If the component is approved by adobe and available on Adobe Exchange, it should be working. If you have downloaded the component from some where else, I can't guarantee it works.

Start the Extension Manager software,
at menu, File - Install Extension, browse for the downloaded mxp file,
and press Install.

Do you get any error message from extension manager? or just an "Install Successfull" message?
