Question

Can't open .fla file

This is a massive problem for me; I was re-animating Freind like me from Alladin.

And I made serious progress, and it was coming together so incredibly well. But now I can't even open the project, and I'm losing my mind, I just can't start over from scratch. I can't.

My computer normally closed last night, and this has never happened to me before; I have no idea what caused this.

And I know for a fact that I had autosave on, it stopped me from drawing multiple times. It popped up, said 'Auto Saving' and I had to wait. But when I go into my adobe 2019 folder, there is so save file backed up!

I don't understand! I turned on autosave, yet it decided not to save a single thing, even though it forced me to stop every five minutes to 'save.'

Please, I need help. If I can't get this file back I will be forced to scrap the project, because there is NO way I'm starting over from frame one.

did you check the correct directory for your autosave?

win: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\<animate version>\en_US\Configuration

mac: Users/<username>/Application Support/Adobe/<animate/flash version>/en_US/Configuration/

Hi mate,

I'm very sorry for what happened to you!

The file is most likely corrupt and the only good thing that can come out of this situation is to learn to save as a different name every few hours and make nightly backups of your work on external drive(s).

We usually hear stories about dead hard drives, but most people think it will never happen to them until it does.

When you get over it, you will do it better and faster the next time.

(Personally I don't trust (and don't use) Auto-recovery and any such solution which uses caching and 'optimised' delayed writing to speed up saving.)

Best
