Cant see layers

Hello, apologies i am new to using animate. There will be a simple solution I just do not know how to use this software yet. On photo 1 i can see the keyframes. In photo two when they are grayed out I cannot. How do I make photo 2 like photo 1?

All the layers in the second photo are empty. So there's nothing for you to see.
