Question

Circles or curves give themselves hard edges if I draw them over other circles or curves

I've been seeing this happen with Flash for at least 17 years, but now I am losing my mind because I cannot find a way to fix it my already broken curves. You would have seen this happen if you drawn shapes in Flash or Animate for any significant amount of time..

I draw a circle over another curve, and the shape of the circle becomes angled with flat edges. This doesn't happen with Illustrator. The only thing that is set to snap is the grid. Why not just use the same mechanisms behind how Illustrator makes vecotrs in Animate??

Watch it happen.

No one should have to be scammed $35 a month for this trash.

Are you using a bigger or smaller canvas size? This type of thing normally happens when you're really zoomed in on a smaller canvas.

I'd suggest (in this order);

- Try using object drawing (Toggle with J)

- Change your cap and join settings in the properties panel

- Try a larger canvas size

It seems to occur regardless of canvas size. This is 2240x2801. If I use object drawing, I can't fill the space that the circle was drawn over. Breaking it down immediately causes the same hard-edge problem. The join and cap settings seem to have no effect.

You could try converting the green curve you're trying to go over into a fill and recolor it to what you need after.

Just select the strokes you want to convert and go to Modify/Shape/Convert Lines to Fills
