Question

Copy/paste layers in animate

Hi,

I have a banner animation where I'd like to reuse some of the layers in a new animation.

The issue I have is the canvas I'm copying from and to are different sizes. When the layers are copied they are pasted in place but not in the postion I want, and when I move them it messes up the animation.

Is there anyway to copy layer(s) to new canvas and move the object without is affecting the key frames?

Thanks

or.... if you have already pasted your animation in... you can use Edit Multiple frames located at the top of the Timeline panel. Select "All Frames" or set your own markers to decide what you want to edit/scale, and then press Command + A or Edit>Select All to select EVERYTHING in your animation (make sure no layers are locked) and then you can press Q to use the Free Transform tool (Modify>Transform>Free Transform) to scale your animation (holding Shift as you scale to constrain purportions.

    Hope that helps.

Hi. I have a problem when copying layers. I copied a layer so I could reuse and do a little edit but then I notice that  the previous layer that I copied from got updated. Is there a way to disable this? Hoping for your reply, thanks.

the previous layer would not get updated, but if you update/change a symbol it will be changed everywhere.

    HI,

So you can select all the frames and layers in your animation, and rightclick and select "Copy Frames".

Then you can create a new MovieClip Symbol, and click on the first frame and Right-Click and select "Paste Frames"

Then you can bring that movieclip on to your stage, or into another movie and you can then press "Q" to Transform and scale the animation (Hold down Shift while dragging the corners to contrain purportions. Then just make sure it has enough frames on the timeline to play thru, or if you have a stop action on Frame 1, the Movieclip will loop your animation over and over.

    Hope this helps!
