Duplicate character (graphic symbol) and all symbols contained

Hi,

I am looking for a quicker solution to accomplish the following:

I want to duplicate a character (graphic symbol), as well as all the symbols nested within (arms, legs, eyes, etc).

Duplicating the character symbol only duplicates that first instance, but all the limbs are still instanced of the original character, so I have to duplicate each nested instance as well, which is really time consuming.

I would appreciate advice on how to do this quicker. Thanks!
