Duplicating symbols AND their inner objects
Hi there,
Forewarning, I am an animation novice.
I have a pretty simple animation of a character walking. The character itself is a symbol. It has 6 sublayers, or inner objects: arm front, arm back, body, leg front, leg back, and shadow. I did not create it, I got it from a tutorial.
I want to duplicate this symbol and create a separate character with different features such as different hair, clothing, etc. These are all features of the "body" sublayer.
I duplicated the symbol in library, dragged the symbol onto the stage, and made sure it was an instance of the duplicated symbol. So I have two characters on stage: one an instance of Human1 and the other an instance of Human2.
However, when I change the hair color of Human2, it respectively changes the hair color of Human1. I believe this is because Animate still thinks the sublayers of each symbol are still shared.
I think I need to figure out a way to duplicate these sublayers to also make them separate instances of each duplicate symbol, but I don't know how.
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!
