dynamic fade in/out text only fading in. Need help with actionscript

Hi all,

I hope someone can help me. I have some dynamic text that I want to fade in and then fade out and then fade in another bit of copy. My text fades in but doesn't fade out, the paragraph just disappears and then brings up the next paragraph abruptly. Any ideas base on the code I have attached here? Let me know if you need more.

Here's an example that works. For one thing you need to use embedded fonts.
Thanks so much for your help. I ended up getting it and did it in a much simpler way with a lot less code. I used symbols as I had mentioned in previous posts, continued using that same basic actionscript but put my movie clips on frame 1, used a stop action and finished it of with PlayMC()

Aye yaye yaye! Ok, I've tried something new...and it still does NOT work. Ugh. Ok. So I have 3 movie clip symbols right now containing my text fading in and fading out. I've put them on frame 2. And on frame 1, I put the following ActionScript to no avail...

Still not working...so here's what I've done: I have the 5 quotes that I'd like to randomly fade in and fade out as 5 movie clips (instead of dynamic txt). Now I've used the following actionscript and I don't get any output at all. FYI, the fade in and out is in the movie clips.

Have you tried slowing down your frame rate or using a longer interval?

It was just one frame, all actionscript and an external text file. My latest post (that was posted simultaneously with yours) is that I've created symbols now with my fading in and out text, now the next step is to get them to play randomly. I have my actionscript on Frame 1 and my Symbols on Frame 2. I'm using a "random" actionscript and then a swap depth. When I run the movie, nothing happens. The code I used is in my latest post. Thanks for the response!
