Eraser tool issue

New to animate and I'm not sure if this is a setting or not. When I am using the brush tool to draw and hit "E" to erase on my wacom screen it shows a brush line where the erase will happen and then when I lift the wacom pen the brush line THEN erases. I'd like it to just erase and show me what it's erasing as it's being erased. Is there a setting for this?
