First frame on symbol being stuck on "1"

I only started getting this issue right as im posting this

When I try typing a number into the "First:" box in "Looping", instead of saving that number it just goes straight back to 1. I need this to work to stay in sync with my animation.

Basically, I setup my character where the legs are seperate from the top of the body, and I didn't put any frames into the symbol which contained the torso symbol.

I'm 100% an idiot here
