Flash Cs6 won't open swf files

I recently started using Flash Cs6 after having been using Cs4 for nearly a decade. Changed computers and am now using an iMac with Os 10.13.5 - High Sierra. When I export a movie as an swf file, then open the file, it opens it in a timeline window first, not as a movie. If I do a command return, it does brings up a movie version in an 'Untitled -(#).swf ' window, but I need to be able to import that into another vector program to access just the movie, and not the timeline file first. Cs4 did this automatically.  All all of my older Cs4 swf files open the same way now too. Is this something that changed from Cs4 to Cs6? How can I export and open just an swf movie version?

click file>publish.  if the published swf fails in lc and plays in a flash player, it's an lc problem.

normally, you just publish a swf and open it in a flash player.

with what program are you trying to open the swf?

It's called LC(Laser Converter)Flash. It's a vector program that converts swf movies into files that can be imported into an application that runs them through a laser projector program, for laser light shows. So the swf file has to be opened with that, not just a Flash player. Cs4 did it just fine.
