Flash Says Unmuted Microphone is Muted

Hello,
I'm trying to bring microphone input into a Flash application. However, whenever I attach my microphone, I get a status back that says Microphone.Muted. I have two microphones attached to my computer, and neither is muted. They are picked up by other applications: Skype, Connect, and other Flash movies once I go into Settings. I've tried both mikes in my getMicrophone call, and they all come back as muted, but I've verified in many other ways that they aren't muted. Any suggestions?

I dunno if this is related, but the settings option in the context menu is grayed out for me on this SWF. I've also tried unplugging one mike, restarting and seeing if that would unmute them, but no dice. The remaining mike still came up as muted.

Well, I found the cause, though not the solution. The movie is fine until I use the Flex Component Kit to try to export the component as a SWC for use in Flex. That is what shuts down my Settings in the context menu and keeps it from recognizing my mikes. Any thoughts on how to surmount this challenge?
