Glitchy audio in animate

so i'm trying to start an animation but when i drag the audio into the timeline, it doesn't appear. someone tell me what's wrong because i just can't do it.

details:

the audio is a wav file, 1 min 14 sec long

idk what else

help

    Hi.

    Are you dragging your sound onto the stage? Can you see a waveform representation in the layer you assigned the audio to? And when you select the keyframe that should contain your audio and go to the Properties panel, do you see the name of your audio file in the Name field of the Sound section?

    Sorry, I'm just a beginning animator and my problem is getting the audio to even be in the timeline but whenever I drag it it displays a ∅ symbol in place on my mouse (same with dragging onto the stage), is my animate cc glitchy or something?
