HELP! Trying to make a spinning halo.

I am using ActionScript 2 and I'm trying to animate a spinning halo for the logo below. Does anyone know how I could do this?

I have made circles spin before, which was easy, but as this is an oval it isn't working out for me.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Is there any other way of making this work? I was kind of wanting to make the halo move like it was spinning off its axis, if you know what I mean. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

What about what you tried didn't you like?  If you describe what you did versus what you got, someone may be able to suggest a variation that you might like.  For what I was suggesting, there would be a rotation (or two) about an axis, so I can't be sure you did what I suggested.

One approach could be to use a mask that is the shape of the halo and have an object spinning beneath it that is colored/filled with a sunburst sort of pattern... rays of color shades from a central point

That's a pretty good idea! I will play around with it and see if that works for me. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the help!!

Yes, playing around is the best approach.  You could even try having a few moving shapes beneath.
