How can i select elements on the same layer behind a lot other elements?

Hi,

today I opened an .ai file in An and there were many objects on the same level. I needed an object that was behind many other objects and moved all other objects to be able to select my object. Then I had to move the other elements back to their old positions. That was a lot of effort and time-consuming.

Is there an option to make it easier to select the object behind many other objects on the same level?

Best regards,

René

I'd suggest you select all the elements and right-click; then from the context menu choose Distribute to Layers.

Then each element will occupy its own layer and you will be able to lock, unlock, and select more easily.
