How do I turn off auto select layer in animate?

Question

For some unknown reason Adobe decided to implement all the same exact tools and functions in totally different ways in every Adobe product. Good idea. "T" is transform in PS but "Q" is transform in Animate. Why? It boggles my mind.

To the layer selection issue:

If I have two identical layers after duplicating layers and I select the objects with the top layer active it will select the objects in the layer underneath it. Is this a bug or a feature? Another "feature" Adobe has implemented but have yet to find any use for it. Is this auto select layer? How do I turn it off so that I can work and do stuff.

In PS there is a checkbox in the tool menu, In Animate it's uhh ????? who the hell knows...

BTW, also meant to say:

You can easily customise the shortcuts for the tools if you like to make them work more like the ones you are used to.

This is done via the Edit menu on Windows or the Animate menu on Mac.

Animate is Flash. Flash had a glorious history a long time before Adobe bought Macromedia. This is why it will never be fully in tune with the Photoshop/Illustrator line of products. It has different origins and logic. Also - a hardcore user base, which will not want such changes implemented.

To isolate a layer, Alt-click on its padlock icon. It will lock all others to prevent undesired changes.
