(setImages) is function of first column for spinning of images, but i want to stop column wise on specifc speed.

that's the kind of coding that gives flash a bad name.  you should really redo it entirely so you can remove needless loops that cause problems for users.

but if you want to keep that you would need to add boolean variables that are checked before executing those setTimeout() functions.
