Question

Hundreds of flv's need to be resized

Last year we made hundreds of flv's used in online training. The client insisted on a 480x360 dimension, which is now proving too big and we need to resize all the flv's to 320x240. Original uncompressed .avi's are gone. Is there any way to open 10 to 12 flv's at a time, reduce their dimension size and export them back to .flvs efficiently. Sorenson Squeeze and After Effects won't import flvs. Flash 8 will, but the process would be clunky and take forever doing them individually. I searched for a software tool to do this, but found nothing.
Any advice welcome.

And of course the most important thing you have learned from this is that you should never get rid of the original source video.

Are the files too big in the sense of bandwidth or just in terms of pixel-estate? If the latter can't you just resize the video display?

Also I would worry that by resizing something that is already compressed you will get mungyness. Always best to start from the originals.

I hope your on a PC - I think I found a solution for you!

    SUPER (free video encoder)
Will convert FLV source, resize file, and output a new FLV all with batch processing.
I did a quick test, and it resized one of my FLV files pretty fast without any problems.

Nickels55 - eRight Super works like a charm. It's quick, easy and looks great. (Not to mention its free!) I can't thank you enough. Great tip!
RothRock-You are right, I did keep the full 20 min. avi's, (about 40 of them), but the flv's were extracted from the avi in 1-2 minute clips. The programmer used exact in and out points for the lesson to play correctly in Shockwave, and asked to keep the exact number of frames in each clip. Hopefully the client will listen to us from the start next time.

    Thanks for everyone's help.

I would see if JSFL will handle this for you. It should.

Definitely give JSFL a shot. What is this mysterious term? The Flash
JavaScript API allows you to programmatically do pretty much whatever the
IDE is capable of. That's definitely been my experience, though I haven't
tried importing and resizing video with it. Look into the Extending Flash
book included with the built-in documentation. It's not especially
difficult if you have experience in either JavaScript or ActionScript. Of
course, if you're not a programmer, it can seem mind-numbingly impossible.
