I can't do anything on the stage

I can't do anything on the stage in the 2022, 2021 or the 2020 version. Using the brush, paint bucket, screen rotate tool or even changing the canvas size doesn't work. I guess it's a glitch or a bug and I realized that many people have asked for help with the same issue but never got a good answer.

How do I fix it?

I've never seen or heard of this issue in all my years of using this application (since 2000). What are your system specs?

Try a complete uninstall and a reinstall.

Since it happens in 3 separate versions, my guess would be that something is wrong with your system.

You should try to update your video drivers and/or your OS.

Also your computer might not match Animate's hardware requirements.

When issues cannot be reproduced, troubleshooting is impossible. That is why such isolated cases are not addressed.
