Question

I drew an animation with the fluid brush tool but I can't fill it with colour, any advice?

I would like to fill the character with colours as I intend on exporting the animation with a transparent background. However it in it's current state the animation would just be a load of black lines. So I'm trying to fill in the character with colour but with no success. I can change the colour of the lines but not add any fill between the lines. I tried the paint bucket tool but that isn't working either.

I've been watching guides ofc and turtorials but I don't remember any of them covering this. I thought perhaps I need to convert the lines into an object but that doesn't appear to have changed anything. I'm assuming I've done something wrong as I've drawn my animation but I'm not entirely sure what. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Make sure there are no openings in what you are trying to fill or it won't fill. You can also make adjustments to the gap size with the fill tool but if the gap is way big it won't work. Check to make sure there are no gaps.

you're screenshot is showing the selection tool is selected, not the fill bucket.

p.s. copy and paste screenshots/images here.  do not use the insert photos button.

At the time I was using the selection tool at the time of the screen shot but I'm fairly confident when trying to fill in the with the fill bucket it hasn't been working. I have been able to use it when I manage to leave to gaps but I was wondering if it's possible to fill in without doing that. I've seen people use animate where they don't actually HAVE to do that but I'm not sure if they used a technique or tool.

gaps have to be closed. period.

they can be auto-closed per @Nick Gioia's message, but if you zoom your brush creation and see a gap, it won't fill.
