Is there a way to fix my issue with sound is Flash 8

I'm really annoyed about how Flash 8 specifically uses sound on the timeline. I don't remember how sound works on the newest version of Adobe animate since I haven't used it in a while but in Flash 8 if you play a sound then it will play until it's done even if you pause the animation. Is there any way to change this so sound stops when you pause the animation?
