Issues exporting from Adobe Animate 2022

I am new to Animate after having used Flash for years more than a decade ago. Some things that seem like they should be simple apparently are not in Animate and I am having issues exporting a finished scene as an MP4 with clean audio.

First, looking at many of the posts in the community, they seem to directing people to a section that I just do not see at all in Animate. When I try to export my scene as a Movie, my only options are SWF (which is obsolete) or as individual image files (SVG, PNG, etc.), which are impractical. Why is there an option there for MP4 or MOV? If I try to export it as a Video/Media I can use the default H.264, but still no option for MP4 or MOV. Also, the final exported video comes out huge (over 5mb for a 30 sec clip) and I see no options to optimize that, which I find very odd.

Second, no matter what video format I choose to export it, the audio comes out as crap. I captured and tweaked the audio in Adobe Audition, and it sounds nice and clean. When I export it in the video, it comes out with an echo, has a lot of static and sounds like I am speaking through a tube. I see no options at all in Animate for handling the audio. I do not understand how it corrupted audio that sounded fine in Animate when testing. Again, I see posts where people point to options to change sound or video quality under Publish Settings, but I see no such options on my screen. I am using the fully licensed Animate version 22.06 with the complete Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.

Any help showing how I can remedy both of these export issues (video format and sound) would be greatly appreciated.

    I always find that if you export as a .mov file then bring it into adobe media encoder and export an MP4 out of that you get a nice clean MP4 using H.264.

    And….how exactly did you export it as a .MOV? I see no option to choose .MOV as a format in Animate.

    Also, I already have it setup to go directly into Media Encoder and that made zero difference. The sound quality still sucks. The original WAV file sounds great, but after exporting it as part of a video from Animate + Media Encoder, it sounds like garbage.

    Follow the steps and it will work.

    Ok there's a few misconceptions here so allow me to clarify a few concepts:

    H.264 is the default codec for standard MP4 video, Animate supports it via Media Encoder, so if you want to export your garden variety MP4, use that format since it's the most widely supported across devices and the web.

    Yes a 30 second MP4 will be about 5mb in size regardless of the video editing software you use, Adobe or otherwise.

    Need it to be smaller? Choose a lower bitrate preset from the export window like "Match Source Medium Bitrate" or "Match Source Adaptive Low Bitrate"

    Need more granular control? Go to Media Encoder and use a custom bitrate to lower it even further.

    Sound problems?

    Make sure you import audio in 44100Hz 16-bit PCM WAV or MP3 since those formats are the ones Animate supports best.

    Go to publish settings and use either the highest setting for MP3 or RAW audio, check override sound settings:

    How to export an mp4?

    Go to File > Export > Export Video/ Media and choose Format: H.264 /Preset: Default (AME) or Match Source - Adaptive High Bitrate

    The video resolution will match your stage size, a low quality video means your stage /render size is too small. Either increase the render size in the export window or make your stage larger.

    For example, for a 1080p video your stage size should be 1920x1080px, anything less will lose quality. Here's a list of standard video resolutions and their sizes in pixels:

    720p = 1280x720 px

    1080p = 1920x1080 px

    2k = 2560x1440 px

    4k = 3840x2160 px

    After hiting export, AME will open up and you will get a standard MP4 video.

    How to export an MOV?

    Go to File > Export > Export Video/ Media and choose Format: Quicktime /Preset: Default (Animate).

    The file size will be large due to being a lossless format. You also have the option to export in various Apple ProRes formats like 422HQ which are tipically lighter.

    Ok, did you import a custom profile or something? I do NOT have those options in my Publish Settings tab. See the attached. I am using the most current version of Adobe Animate. What version are you using?

    Ah I see what the problem is. You're working on HTML5 Canvas that's why you don't see the audio options.

    Always work on an ActionScript 3 document for video.

    I hate that I cannot edit my post after posting. Ugh. Anyway, I am asking in the first issue, why there is NOT an option for MP4 or MOV under Video/Media, and NO options to optimize the exported video, or if there is still a way to do both somewhere hidden inside Animate.
