with flash player 7 or greater a cross-domain policy file should be required regardless of browser. i am aware that not all browsers implement all player features equally.

but i'm unable to say specifically why firefox with fp9 works without a cross-domain loadSound and ie with fp9 doesn't work.

If that was the cause, why does FireFox work?

Running flash 9, and I tried checkPolicyFile= true;

Even if that were the problem, why does flash loadSound() work fine in FireFox?
