mask layer breaks during the animation

I'm trying to use masks to shade my animation which is inside of a symbol.

I created a copy of the symbol with darker colors and put it as a mask but some parts are not masked properly or completely broken.

masks aren't for shading.

use a color effect.

you've clearly not looked at the images I've attached, the problem here is that the mask is not working, I'm trying to use masks for a unique shading teqnique that involves mid-tones and hand picked colors.
If you comment again please look more into the post and actually give help instead of redirecting the issue.
