Motion tween within content layer of button

I am trying to create a slideshow of photos within the content layer of a button. I have created a motion tween within the content layer itself but it doesn't show up when testing. Should I copy/paste the layer to the main timeline? Where would the placement be if the slideshow were only to appear when one (out of eight) buttons are selected. Any tips for a newbie?

    Buttons don't have a "content" layer. Explain yourself.

    No the content layer is on the main timeline. I just meant the content layer is the information that the viewer receives when hitting the button. Does that make sense?
