Movie Clip button to Scene Frame

I need help. I am trying to make my menu as a seperate movie clip for simplicity and less key frames. I can not figure out, though, how to get my menu buttons to go to the frame label in scene 1. If I could get some advice on how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Unfortunately that didn't work either. There should be a way to do this. It's probably that I am making things more difficult than they should be.

gotoAndStop("scene1",2);

use this , in this "scene1" is scene name and 2 is frame number

That is what I have been trying, but it is not working. The silly thing goes back to frame 1 of the movie clip instead of the intended frame label from the scene.
