Multi-Layer Animation Not Playing All Layers.

I am creating a multi-layer animation. I have a movie clip symbol with animations within it. When I exit the symbol and go to the main Scene. It doesn't play that animation. It just shows a still of the symbol. When I double click back into the symbol it plays fine. How do I make it so I can watch the symbols animation without going into the symbol?
