My draws convert to symbol automatically

Hello, i was creating some sprites, so first i make the body i convert it into a symbol then a draw the arms and i wanted to make the shadow but i tried, the the line work of the arm was surrounded by a square and I don't know how to automatically render my drawing in normal and then convert to symbol.
