New With Flash - Need Help With How I Should Go About Making a Navigational Flash Project

I know flash, but I don't truly have a good feeling for it yet. In this new flash project, I have building schematics. It is a very large building, so what I have been requested to do is to allow a room number to be selected or typed in, and as a result there would be a box around or a dot inside the room specified. I am not sure how I should go about this and could really use some guidance. Thanks.

EDIT:

Any slight suggestion might help or any ideas, I just need some help on how to organize it. Thanks again.

Create a movieclip for each individually selectable section that depicts what you want to depict when selected.  Make the movieclip(s) visible when selected.  If you only want one visible at a time, then keep track of the selcted one so that you can hide it before making the newly selected one visible.
