New workspace

HI Everyone, I am just starting in animate.
I got the trial version with the intetion to subscribe. However, I can npt follow the lecture.
1 I am unable to create new workspace and the option is not available to me

2 When I create a new layer, the sketch I uploaded on the previous layer is still on display.

These is hampering me. I just can not follow the class not knowing what to do.

Is this normal?

Is there how I can fix it or it is because I am using thefree trial version?

I will be happy to gt a response.
