no audio files will work!!!

Hi guys I'm using adobe animate 23.0 and I've tried everything to get any audio file onto it and it just comes up with an error message everytime. 
It has been converted to mp3 and wave and I've messed around with kbps' and Hrtz and I cannot get any audio file to work, does anyone have a solution as to what I could be doing wrong ? 
its fustrating because I'm lip syncing away from my project being complete and it's added a few days on now.
