Object VS image in propeerties panel

Hi,

What is the difference  between object or image in the properties panel.
We can adjust Alpha in both and you can use either one.

Is there an advantage of using one rather than the other?

I am using PNG's.

    yes, but if they both work the same for you, use the image.

    What is the difference between the two?

    I suspect object be used with symbols.

    In simple terms an object is just a protected piece of art, were as a symbol is a graphic that can be manipulated on a timeline or using effects nested with its own timeline.
