"Old School" programmer returning to Animate - Cue Points? Still viable?

I'm returning to programming more digital multimedia with experience with Flash & Director [I am old].  Is there a way to trigger actions using Cue Points within Adobe Animate specifically using the HTML5 Canvas?  If not is there another solution for triggering actions upon crossing over cues in he audio?  Really liked how I could either use embedded or actionscript placed cues to trigger animations or sinking data into codes after passing over a cue point.
