Photoshop file's layers aren't imported correctly

Hi everyone, 

I'm trying to animate a photoshop file with a lot of quite intricate layers. When I import the file, the whole composition looks fine, but when I try to move the layers seperately, they look sort of unclean and smashed together - does anybody know what that's about? Is it because there are too many layers?

I've attached some images of what the layers should look like and what they look like once they've been imported to the stage.
